BARBARA L. TORTOLANI
BRIDAL PORTRAITS NEWPORT,
RODE ISLAND
- In 1994, I had the dream of sculpting one-of-a-kind Bridal Portraits!
I have always been in love with weddings and the excitement and glamour
that surrounds this event. It is a real joy to be able to share this gift
with others. My aim is to capture not only the Bride's likeness, but her
spirit, personal glamour, grace, elegance, and beauty. Every Bride is beautiful
and deserves to have only the best.
PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY:
- Having worked in the arts for over eighteen years, my interest in the
classical arts has been the driving force in my career. Sculpting and Model
Making is my talent and passion. The majority of my sculpting abilities
were self-taught.
-
- Between the years of 1990 and today, I have been working as a Commercial
Free-lance Model Maker/Sculptor. My accounts range from Gorham, Lenox,
and Reed & Barton to Hamilton Collections, Goebel, Fort and Hasbro.
-
- In 1990 I traveled to France for the first time to attend a class in
portrait and figure modeling, instructed by Martine Vaugel of the Vaugel
Sculpting School, in the Loire Valley of France. The course brought us
first to Paris where my passion for the Classic Arts was ignited and magnified.
For five weeks we were immersed in sculpture and the countryside of France.
Needless to say, my career took off after this experience.
-
- In 1996, I returned to Paris and the Loire Valley for another sculpting
course, again portrait and figure modeling hosted by Martine Vaugel. She
inspired me to pursue my sculpting vocation with passion and persistence.
Martine drew her inspiration from Roden.
-
- Before 1990, I worked as a model and mold maker for a variety of companies
in Rhode Island.
